Football Game Preview: Bayonne Bees vs. Hudson Catholic Hawks

The Bayonne Bees will head out to face off against the Hudson Catholic Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bayonne will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Bayonne is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Clifton to the tune of 44-15 on Saturday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bees with their most commanding win of the season.

Bayonne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nico Sampson out in front who threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Sampson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bees' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Chance Fischer helped Sampson out on the ground, rushing for 147 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, Hudson Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 49-6 loss at the hands of Immaculata. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

The victory got Bayonne back to even at 3-3. As for Hudson Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Bayonne came up short against Hudson Catholic in their previous matchup back in September of 2021, falling 27-21. Can the Bees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
