Baseball Recap: Monroe Trojans vs. Lincoln Railsplitters
Monroe had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it nine. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Railsplitters. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Railsplitters this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat on Monday.
As for Lincoln, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.
For Lincoln's part, Aidan Sullivan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sullivan has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Lincoln is 3-1 when Sullivan posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise.
