Recap: Rodriguez Mustangs vs. Vanden Vikings
It was a good run, but the Rodriguez Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They were dealt a 70-34 defeat at the hands of Vanden. While losing is never fun, Rodriguez can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Vanden is ranked 74th).
When it comes to explaining why Rodriguez lost, one person who can't be blamed is KJ Franklin. Despite the final result, he scored ten points.
Rodriguez now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Vanden, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
Rodriguez will head out on the road to face off against Whitney at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Whitney: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Rodriguez has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Vanden will take on Golden Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanden has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 840 points over their last 12 matches.
