Softball Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown extended their losing streak to 19 on Monday, dropping them down to 1-22. They lost 15-0 to the Lakota East Thunderhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in April.

As for Lakota East, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

For Lakota East's part, Sophia Brown was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Pittman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Middletown is set to challenge their familiar foe Oak Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lakota East will take on rival Sycamore at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
