Preview: Wayne Country Day Chargers vs. Greenfield Knights
Wayne Country Day has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Greenfield Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Wayne Country Day was fully in charge, breezing past the Falcons 78-27 at home. While fans of Wayne Country Day might be used to big wins, the 51-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
It was another big night for Carlos Vazquez, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Kayleb Coles was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Greenfield waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 81-55 margin over Wayne Christian. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Greenfield just coasted through the last quarter.
Wayne Country Day pushed their record up to 23-8 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Greenfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.
Wayne Country Day won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup last Tuesday, slipping by the Knights 61-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne Country Day since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
