Volleyball Game Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Brighton Bengals

After both having extra time off, the Lone Peak Knights and the Brighton Bengals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Lone Peak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Skyridge, who was ranked first at the time (Lone Peak was ranked fifth). The Knights lost 3-0 to the Falcons last Friday. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Lone Peak ultimately came up short, they really made Skyridge work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 27-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Brighton came up short against Bountiful on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Brighton was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22, 25-23.

Lone Peak's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

Lone Peak came out on top in a nail-biter against Brighton in their previous matchup back in November of 2016, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
