Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Kennedy's 13th in Last 15 Outings

Kennedy won against Iowa City on Friday with 81 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Kennedy Cougars beat the Liberty Lightning by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 81-42. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Liberty's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerimiah Washpun, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points. Washpun is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last three games he's played. Chase Goodheart was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will square off against Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Kennedy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games. As for Liberty, they will venture away from home to challenge Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
