Preview: Portola Tigers vs. Ferndale Wildcats
Portola has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Ferndale Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Portola had no problem doing just that last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 27-14.
Meanwhile, Ferndale came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 14-7 win over Willits.
Portola has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.42 points. As for Ferndale, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
