Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 54-43 to the Hernando Leopards. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-49 back in December of 2024.

Daniel Merizalde was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 13 en route to 17 points along with five assists and five boards for Hernando. Blake Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Hernando, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central has already played their next game (against Citrus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hernando has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Nature Coast Tech.
