Softball Recap: Triopia Trojans vs. Calhoun Warriors
Triopia lost against Calhoun back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Triopia Trojans fell 11-6 to the Calhoun Warriors. Triopia has not had much luck with Calhoun recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
For Calhoun's part, Audrey Gilman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gilman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Gilman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two triples, and three runs.
In other batting news, Katie Matthews was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.
Triopia now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Calhoun, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 14-0-1.
Triopia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pittsfield at 4:30 p.m. on May 3rd. As for Calhoun, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-6 victory vs. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia on the 15th.
