Preview: Beach Bulldogs vs. Savannah Country Day Hornets
Beach is 0-3 against Savannah Country Day since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Beach Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Savannah Country Day Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
After soaring to a 25-point win in their last game, Beach came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Long County by a score of 57-54. Beach has not had much luck with Long County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Beach saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Reid scored 24 points along with four steals. That was a full 44.4% of Beach's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Jones, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Calvary Day typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Savannah Country Day proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 55-49 win over the Cavaliers. The win made it back-to-back wins for Savannah Country Day.
Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Savannah Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Beach, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Savannah Country Day in their previous matchup back in January.
