Basketball Recap: Modoc Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Hoopa Valley came into Monday's match looking for another win against Modoc, but Chris Guasp wouldn't allow it. The Modoc Braves took down the Hoopa Valley Warriors 60-43 on Monday thanks in part to Guasp, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Adin Benson, who posted six points in addition to 15 boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high.

Hoopa Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Romero, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lyle Mckinnon, who had ten points and six rebounds.

Modoc's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Hoopa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Modoc won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fall River at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. As for Hoopa Valley, they will head out to face off against Ferndale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
