Baseball Recap: Sterling Heights Stevenson's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sterling Heights Stevenson won the last time they faced Utica and things went their way on Saturday too. The Titans won by a run and slipped past the Chieftains 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted against the Chieftains since May 25, 2019.

Jordan Miller looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Leonard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Brandon Maude also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory (which was Sterling Heights Stevenson's third in a row) raised their record to 22-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Utica, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-20.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sterling Heights Stevenson will venture away from home to take on Adams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
