Baseball Game Preview: West Craven Eagles vs. Nash Central Bulldogs

The West Craven Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Nash Central Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Craven will be strutting in after a victory while Nash Central will be coming in after a defeat.

While West Craven's win against North Pitt wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Panthers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Panthers since April 18, 2017.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Nash Central fell just short of Princeton by a score of 3-1. Nash Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caleb Cox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nash Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Moss, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Moss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

The victory made it two in a row for West Craven and bumps their season record up to 4-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Nash Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
