Soccer Game Preview: Riverside vs. Blue Ridge

The Riverside Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Blue Ridge Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Riverside is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Holy Cross just ended the team's 12-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 2-1. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Riverside couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Blue Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Old Forge on Saturday and fell 2-1. Blue Ridge have struggled against Old Forge recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Blue Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Riverside, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.

Everything went Riverside's way against Blue Ridge when the teams last played back in September, as Riverside made off with a 5-1 win. In that match, the Vikings amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
