Baseball Recap: Portage Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Portage Central had lost ten games straight , but after bumping their record up to 4-14 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Lakeview Spartans 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Spartans since May 10, 2021.

Portage Central got a great performance from Noah Klein as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave Klein a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Turner, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Nolan Bloomquist was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Lakeview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

On Lakeview's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Shotwell, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
