Baseball Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Comes Up Short

If Bishop O'Dowd was feeling good fresh off their 13-6 takedown of Oakland Tech last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bishop O'Dowd fell just short of the Castro Valley Trojans by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bishop O'Dowd got a good showing from Benjie Sharman, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Sharman has allowed since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Vander Cole made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Partritee, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Bishop O'Dowd dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Castro Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

While Bishop O'Dowd had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
