New Knoxville falls despite big games from Addi Albers and Brynn Egbert

Recap: New Knoxville Rangers vs. New Bremen Cardinals

The New Knoxville Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-22 walloping at the hands of New Bremen. While losing is never fun, New Knoxville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 644th, while New Bremen is ranked 319th).

Brynn Egbert and Addi Albers certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Egbert almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds, while Albers scored nine points along with six rebounds. That was a full 40.9% of New Knoxville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

New Knoxville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for New Bremen, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

New Knoxville will head out on the road to square off against Waynesfield-Goshen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Knoxville is coming into the game with 15 straight defeats on the road, so Waynesfield-Goshen is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for New Bremen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hardin Northern at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hardin Northern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
