Preview: Fletcher Senators vs. Atlantic Coast Stingrays
After three games on the road, Fletcher is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Fletcher lost to Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the road by a decisive 53-37 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fletcher has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Fletcher got a solid performance out of Anthony Vaglienti, who scored ten points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Barata, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Atlantic Coast, who are still winless after their eighth game. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 57-43 to Palatka. While losing is never fun, Atlantic Coast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 704th, while Palatka is ranked 167th).
Fletcher has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Atlantic Coast, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Fletcher was able to grind out a solid win over Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 57-44. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Atlantic Coast's Josiah McClary, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Fletcher to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
