Basketball Recap: Warren County Gets the Win

Warren County hadn't done well against Vance County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Warren County Eagles slipped by the Vance County Vipers 48-47. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Leading Warren County to victory were Khalil Townsend and Kamari Nicholson. Townsend posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Nicholson went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven blocks and five boards. Townsend has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Henderson, who put up 13 points.

Warren County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Warren County pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Vance County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Warren County and Greensville County will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warren County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Vance County, they will challenge Corinth Holders at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Vance County is facing Corinth Holders at the right time seeing as Corinth Holders is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
