Soccer Game Preview: Saugatuck vs. Black River

The Saugatuck Trailblazers will head out to challenge the Black River River Rats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Saugatuck who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. The Trailblazers got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Zion Christian's four. The win made it back-to-back victories for Saugatuck.

Black River will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Monday, then bounced right back against Fennville on Tuesday. The River Rats never let the Blackhawks get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Considering Black River have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Saugatuck's record now sits at 8-6-3. As for Black River, their record is now 11-6-1.

Saugatuck suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Black River in their previous meeting on May 8th. Can the Trailblazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
