Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Myles Mahler and Thomas Ashby

Hillcrest has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 58-51 to the Tooele Buffaloes on Friday. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buffaloes earlier this season, when they won 58-33.

Hillcrest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Thomas Ashby, who posted 23 points, and Myles Mahler, who scored 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Ashby a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Ashby, who put up seven points and seven rebounds.

Crew Lewis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tooele, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least a third of Tooele's points. Another player making a difference was Grady Symonds, who had ten points and eight rebounds.

Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Tooele, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-20.

Coming up, Hillcrest will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. Jordan has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three matches. Tooele does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
