Baseball Recap: Brazos Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Brazos dropped their record down to 13-10 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the East Bernard Brahmas, falling 18-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Brahmas since April 1, 2022.

Reese Cullen and Luke Polasek stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cullen went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Polasek got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

As for East Bernard, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On East Bernard's side, Camden Fucik tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Ty Grigar was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Morton, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brazos will head out to square off against Almeta Crawford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for East Bernard, they are taking a road trip to face off against Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Brahmas 3.6, the Lions 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
