Recap: Windham Whippets vs. Montville Wolves
The Windham Whippets won against the Montville Wolves on Tuesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Windham blew past Montville, posting a 66-19 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Windham has managed all season.
Leading Windham to victory were Asihja Harris and Aniya Jenkins. Harris dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Jenkins shot 4-for-11 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harris pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Flores, who scored four points along with 11 steals and eight rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Windham, bringing their record for this year to 3-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Montville, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2.
Windham will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bolton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Bolton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. Montville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stonington at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Stonington is ranked 58th, while Montville is ranked 61st).
