Softball Recap: Xavier College Prep Has No Trouble Against Millennium

Xavier College Prep won against Desert Vista last Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Gators blew past the Millennium Tigers 11-1. Considering the Gators have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Angie Falls was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Root, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Riley McKeever, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Xavier College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Xavier College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Millennium, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Xavier College Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
