Baseball Game Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Kofa Kings

The San Luis Sidewinders will head out on the road to take on the Kofa Kings at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. San Luis is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, San Luis came up short against Verrado and fell 12-9.

Cesar Chavira made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kofa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Red Mountain 7-6.

Kofa also got a great performance from Ernesto Hernandez as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kofa let Ryan Rosas and Daniel Zazueta run wild. Rosas scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Zazueta went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Kofa is undefeated when Rosas posts three or more hits, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ozzie Ortiz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Kofa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Kofa now has a winning record of 8-7. As for San Luis, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

San Luis suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Kofa when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Sidewinders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
