A feisty cat fight will be fought as Ridgeview Panthers face off against Bishop Snyder Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeview has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Ridgeview is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Baker County.
Ridgeview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Kirk, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Meilani McNab also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Bishop Snyder hadn't done well against Trinity Christian Academy recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Bishop Snyder was the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over Trinity Christian Academy. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Chloe Gotto and Caitlyn Boshell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gotto didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Boshell pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gotto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Gotto went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double, while Boshell went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those six RBI gave Gotto a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juliana Roldan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lola Aberly, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Bishop Snyder hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Christian Academy struck out eight times.
Bishop Snyder's record now sits at 10-3. As for Ridgeview, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything went Ridgeview's way against Bishop Snyder in their previous matchup back in February of 2016, as Ridgeview made off with a 6-0 victory. Will Ridgeview repeat their success, or does Bishop Snyder has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
