Softball Recap: Anthem Prep's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Anthem Prep lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Salome, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Eagles put the hurt on the Frogs with a sharp 18-6 win on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Bailey McCabe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. McCabe was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Anthem Prep got a massive performance out of Rhyan Cantelme, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Cantelme has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Molly McCabe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Anthem Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Anthem Prep's third in a row) raised their record to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Salome, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Coincidentally, Anthem Prep and Salome will both be playing San Pasqual Valley the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Frogs will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
