Port Charlotte extends road losing streak to three

Recap: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Seffner Christian Crusaders

On Saturday, Port Charlotte was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Seffner Christian. While losing is never fun, Port Charlotte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Seffner Christian is ranked 17th).

Seffner Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jade Thompson, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Lee, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Port Charlotte's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-4. As for Seffner Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Charlotte will take on DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. DeSoto County's defense has only allowed 23.6 points per game this season, so Port Charlotte's offense will have their work cut out for Port Charlotte. As for Seffner Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Academy of the Holy Names at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Academy of the Holy Names focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
