Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Falls Short Against Ranked Cabell Midland

Spring Valley faced Cabell Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Timberwolves took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in August.

Avery Ellis paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up four kills. Ellis really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. Finally, Anna Phillips kept Spring Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Cabell Midland can attribute much of their success to Jillian Yost, who had eight digs and one block. That's the most digs Yost has posted over her last seven matchups.

Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 22-9-5. As for Cabell Midland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-3-1.

Spring Valley has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Ripley on the 2nd. As for Cabell Midland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Bridgeport on the 27th.
