Basketball Recap: Niwot Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Niwot and Aurora Central squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Niwot had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Aurora Central Trojans by a score of 35-33. The Cougars' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Niwot still got an impressive performance from Jiselle Sales, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards for Aurora Central. Johnson-Gonzales also grabbed seven steals, which is notable because Aurora Central is 9-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-6 otherwise. Ana Lua was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Niwot's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Aurora Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Niwot does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Aurora Central has already played their next contest (against Mead), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
