Softball Recap: Legacy's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Legacy had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Fairview Knights. Considering the Lightning have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Prisca Smolens was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Valerie Elkins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. The last time their OBP was this high was back in September of 2024.

The win got Legacy back to even at 8-8. As for Fairview, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy will take on Boulder at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.25 runs per game on average), something the Lightning will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fairview, they will square off against Loveland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Red Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.82 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
