Softball Recap: Citrus Valley Triumphs

While Citrus Valley's victory against Cajon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cowboys 4-2. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Olivia Acuna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Monse Matute, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Addison King also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The victory got Citrus Valley back to even at 9-9. As for Cajon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Citrus Valley will face off against Redlands East Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blackhawks are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cajon, they will challenge Yucaipa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cowboys surely won't give up without a fight.
