Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) completed its incredible run through the National High School Invitational in Cary, N.C. with a 3-2 extra-inning win over Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood, Calif.) on Saturday.

The Monarchs rallied from two runs down to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Davis Tominaga. Ryan McMahon had hit a solo home run earlier in the game to account for the Monarchs' other run.

The game went extra innings and Ryan Barr drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth with a bases-loaded single.

The Monarchs won four games at the invitational, knocking of No. 1-ranked Bishop Gorman and No. 2-ranked Carroll before taking on the Wolverines in the championship game. The Monarchs are 11-3 on the season.

The championship game was the only game played on Saturday due to rainy conditions. Seven other games were canceled and the championship game was postponed for several hours.
