Chesapeake took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fairland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Dragons 9-8 on Wednesday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Haylee Lafon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over eight innings pitched. Lafon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Kaydence Easthom and Angel Hundley did most of the damage at the plate: Easthom scored two runs and stole two bases, while Hundley scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was KJ Collins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Chesapeake and bumps their season record up to 4-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Fairland, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chesapeake will square off against Minford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fairland, they will take on Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ironman/Ironladies have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
