Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Port). They skirted past the Venice Indians 64-62. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bobcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

North Port's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Venice, they dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

North Port and Venice could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. North Port (ranked 528th) will meet Homestead (ranked 263rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Venice will square off against Lehigh at 5:00 p.m. on Friday down 171 places (307 vs. 136).
