Trimble County is 2-8 against South Oldham since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Trimble County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Trimble County made easy work of Shelby County and carried off an 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly ten runs.
Alyssa Ritchie made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, K Holbrook was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jocie Stucker, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Trimble County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, South Oldham was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Elizabethtown, falling 8-2. The Dragons have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Addi Schrecker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Black, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Trimble County pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for South Oldham, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Trimble County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like South Oldham struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Trimble County suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to South Oldham in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
