Softball Recap: Floyd Central Triumphs

While Floyd Central's win against Corydon Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Highlanders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Elise Coleman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Kiersten Fiedler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Floyd Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.

Floyd Central's record now sits at 8-1. As for Corydon Central, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Gibson Southern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Corydon Central, they will face off against Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
