Basketball Recap: Niangua Takes a Loss

Niangua lost against Wheatland back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Niangua Cardinals took a blow against the Wheatland Mules, falling 70-32. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Mules are ranked 83rd).

Niangua has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Wheatland, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Niangua has already played their next contest (against Crocker), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wheatland will be playing in front of their home fans against Hume at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wheatland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Hume likes a good challenge.
