Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was the 2-0 winner over North Putnam when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Artesians took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Saturday. The Artesians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their offense was headlined by Jacob Hawley and Fisher Dunscombe, who picked up two kills apiece. Dunscombe also shared the team's lead in assists with Cameron Sylvester: they picked up four each.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for North Putnam, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Martinsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Mooresville on the 3rd. As for North Putnam, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Evansville Reitz on the 3rd.
