Football Recap: Trabuco Hills' Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home + How To Watch

Trabuco Hills dropped to 6-3 on Tuesday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Santa Margarita Eagles, falling 41-21. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Eagles are ranked fourth).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Tapper, who threw for 268 yards and three TDs. Tapper is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Trabuco Hills' leading receiver Emma Ortiz was Tapper's top target yet again, picking up 114 receiving yards and one score.

As for Santa Margarita, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 27.2 points this season.

Santa Margarita had a senior duo take command as Madi Lam threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.4% of her passes and Avery Finneran picked up 89 receiving yards and three TDs. Finneran also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, picking up a sack, making one tackle, and defending one pass.

Coming up, Trabuco Hills will take on Sage Hill at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Margarita, they will take on Newport Harbor in a tournament on Saturday.
