Basketball Game Preview: Creede Miners vs. Centennial Rams

The Creede Miners just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Centennial Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Creede was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to Moffat.

Meanwhile, Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Manzanola.

Creede will need to focus on slowing down Zach Jacquez, one of several Centennial players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5-for-12 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Jacquez has been hot recently, having posted six or more steals the last three times he's played. Jose Molina was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manzanola only posted five assists.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Creede, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Creede came up short against Centennial in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 64-52. Can Creede avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
