Basketball Recap: Lexington's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After a string of six wins, Lexington's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the White Knoll Timberwolves by a score of 54-52. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Timberwolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lexington still got an impressive performance from Sydni Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Another player making a difference was Izzy Saville, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

White Knoll got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaelyn Hayes out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 boards. Hayes is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Emory Waters-Inman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds.

Lexington's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for White Knoll, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Lexington has already played their next match, a 70-42 victory against River Bluff on the 24th. As for White Knoll, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-37 win against Chapin on the 25th.
