Basketball Recap: Grand Island Lutheran Starts Season with Win Against High Plains

Grand Island Lutheran had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the High Plains Storm by a score of 49-41. For the Lightning, this counts as revenge for the 60-35 win the Storm walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Grand Island Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Olslon, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Olslon a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Maxwell Murdoch was another key player, shooting 67% from the field to rack up 18 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Grand Island Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-33 defeat against Archangels Catholic on the 6th. As for High Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-37 loss against Fullerton on the 6th.
