Softball Game Preview: Wayne Eagles vs. Midlakes Screaming Eagles

The Wayne Eagles will challenge the Midlakes Screaming Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wayne is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Waterloo on Wednesday. They lost 10-2 to the Tigers. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

Wayne saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Midlakes came up short against Mynderse Academy on Wednesday, falling 15-4. The loss continues a trend for the Screaming Eagles in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Midlakes now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Wayne, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Wayne might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Midlakes in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
