Baseball Game Preview: Santa Maria Saints vs. Carpinteria Warriors

The Santa Maria Saints will venture away from home to take on the Carpinteria Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, Santa Maria made easy work of Laton and carried off an 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Julius Medina made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Martin, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Mateo Peinado was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Santa Maria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Carpinteria put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Orcutt Academy 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Santa Maria's record now sits at 2-0. As for Carpinteria, their record now sits at 4-0.
