Baseball Recap: Galatia/Thompsonville Beats Gallatin County for Their Sixth Straight Win

Galatia/Thompsonville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gallatin County Hawks, sneaking past 3-1.

Eli Hankins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Hankins was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, AJ Downing was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Colin Jenkins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Galatia/Thompsonville's record is now 6-1. As for Gallatin County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galatia/Thompsonville will venture away from home to face off against Vienna at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Galatia/Thompsonville's pitchers better be ready for this one: Vienna has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Gallatin County, they are taking a road trip to take on Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
