Basketball Preview: Conifer Lobos vs. Evergreen Cougars
After four games on the road, Conifer is heading back home. They will take on the Evergreen Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Wednesday, Conifer lost to the Lions on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin.
Defeat or not, Conifer got some senior leadership from Ely Miller and Jordan Zitkus. Miller scored 16 points along with four steals, while Zitkus. scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Evergreen unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. The game between them and Green Mountain wasn't particularly close, with Evergreen falling 60-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Evergreen in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost five in a row.
Conifer has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Evergreen, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Things could have been worse for Conifer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-45 loss to the Cougars in their previous matchup back in February of 2023.
