Softball Game Preview: Richmond Bobcats vs. Old Orchard Beach Seagulls

Richmond has gone a perfect 9-0 against Old Orchard Beach recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will welcome the Seagulls at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Richmond duked it out with North Yarmouth Academy on Monday. The Bobcats lost 10-2 to the Panthers. The Bobcats have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Richmond saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Hooper, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Hooper has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against North Yarmouth Academy, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Seagulls have lost by exactly ten runs.

Richmond now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Old Orchard Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Richmond took their win against Old Orchard Beach when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Seagulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
