Recap: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Middlesex Chargers
The Chincoteague Ponies lost against the Middlesex Chargers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chincoteague suffered a tough 72-49 defeat at the hands of Middlesex. Chincoteague has struggled against Middlesex recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Chincoteague's loss came despite strong showings from Jake Harper and Jordan Harper. Harper scored 20 points along with 5 steals, while Harper scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Harper scored a full 30.6% of Chincoteague's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Adams, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Chincoteague's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Middlesex, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chincoteague will challenge Worcester Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Worcester Prep and Chincoteague are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. Middlesex won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd.
